Prize awarded to INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage) a NGO founded in 1984 for the promotion of consciousness and legislation in favour of the artistic and cultural heritage of India. It is made up of approximately one hundred delegations in different cities.
INTACH in Pondicherry has existed for 10 years and works as a link between local government and the public in order to reach its aim of protecting the Franco-Indian architectural heritage of Pondicherry. It advises architects and construction companies, and helps to create legislation which is favourable towards the finding of finances for the owners of listed buildings.
