The association for the safeguard of Pondicherry and of the French heritage in India
Friends of Pondicherry Heritage (FPH) is an association of French, European and Indian persons willing to unite their efforts to protect and restore the unique architectural heritage constituted by Pondicherry’s ancient French and Tamil houses and furthermore all the edifices in the Indian sub-continent where French tradition has been integrated through history. This heritage is seriously threatened nowadays although it witnesses the close, very ancient collaboration between France and India.
Friends of Pondicherry Heritage have offices in Paris and Pondicherry. They dispose of experts as well of the history of the French presence in India as of all the architectural or cultural realisations that have permitted the expression of a mixed culture.
They get in touch with every different French, Indian or other group having similar goals. In particular with: AFUI (Association France-Union Indienne), Friends of Jaipur; CIDIF (Centre d’information et de documentation de l’Inde francophone), Ecole Française d’Extrême Orient, Institut Français d'Indologie, INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage), Société d' Histoire de Pondichéry, Vieilles Maisons Françaises, la Foundation VMF and there are many others in France or across the world.
